Project Statement:

In this piece, I am experimenting with site-specific art; these plates were made for this specific space. By displaying them in Fisher
Hall, the viewer has the advantage of a balcony and the ability to experience them from a floor above. From the second floor, the glazing appears to be lines, but up close, it is apparent that they are actually lines of dots. Another feature of the rotunda is the square tiles on the floor, highlighting the juxtaposition between the shapes of the tiles with those of the plates. Large amounts of natural light
seep in and further play on the piece by introducing additional patterns.

This piece is set at the crossroads between functional pottery and larger-scale sculpture. When placed together on the ground, these
sixteen plates form a larger structure that questions assumptions about the limits of functional pottery use.
